THE ARGO PROGRAM AND ITS UTILITY

Argo is the first program in the history of oceanography to collect in situ observations on a global scale and in real time thanks to 4000 underwater robots called floats, distributed in oceans and seas around the world.

Argo floats measure water temperature and salinity and other parameters such as oxygen levels, pH, nitrates, suspended particles, and chlorophyll. All these data are collected and analyzed by oceanographers and then made available to the entire scientific research community.

ADOPT-A-FLOAT

Adopt-a-float is a multidisciplinary educational program for schools that brings ocean science directly into the classroom by providing teachers and students with resources to learn ocean biology, chemistry, and physics.

Adopt-a-Float has been introduced in schools across North America and France, providing teachers and students with resources to learn ocean biology, chemistry, and physics.

We would like to introduce the Adopt-a-Float program in Trieste as well. If you are a teacher, leave your contact details or your school's contact info at the OGS booth, or send an email to adopt-a-float@ogs.it
